LANGLEY, Wash. (AP) — Authorities say two people died yesterday in a small plane crash on Whidbey Island southeast of Langley.
The pilot was 78-year-old Carl Dahlman of Seattle. The co-pilot was 25-year-old Joshua McCormick of Edmonds, according to the Island County Sheriff’s Office.
The Cessna 177 reported to the FAA it had lost an engine near Langley Airport just before noon and were going down. A witness then called to report a plane flew over the runway, made a sharp turn and then crashed into the woods just at the end of the airpark.
The crash is being investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.
