Get a first look tonight at Lincoln Theater renovation progress and a virtual tour of the new design

PORT ANGELES – A long-awaited update on the renovation of the historic Lincoln Theater in downtown Port Angeles will be presented on Youtube tonight at 6:00.

The 20-minute presentation is brought to us by Ghostlight Productions, the resident musical theater company, who teamed up with owners Marty and Deborah Marchant last year.

We asked Ghostlight co-founder and Artistic Director Mark Lorentzen to give an idea of what to expect from tonight’s presentation.

“Tonight we are presenting a little documentary we put together that talks a little bit about the history of the building, and then more importantly we are sharing the plans and some of the incredible renderings so that folks can see what the theater is going to look like when it’s all done. And I think people are going to be absolutely blown away when they see how gorgeous it’s going to look.”

Lorentzen says we’ll get a tour of the 100-year-old theater in it’s present state, which will include the auditorium, backstage areas and the upper floor as well. That will be followed by a virtual tour created by designers to show what the venue will look like when renovations are complete.

Built in 1916, the Lincoln Theater opened as a single-screen movie house, but was eventually changed to a modern 3-screen theater. Lorentzen says the new design concept is to turn it into a multi-use facility.

“Absolutely. We are going back to that whole multi-use venue. It will be the home of Ghostlight Productions, so all of our seasons will be presented at the Lincoln, but we will also show film, we hope to host community events, comedy nights. I think people are really going to be excited when they see how versatile the building’s going to be.”
