PORTLAND, Ore. — A surfer was bitten by a shark Sunday afternoon off the coast of Seaside, Oregon according to local police.
Authorities said it happened in an area around Seaside Cove around 3:30 p.m. The victim was brought to shore by other beach-goers who witnessed the incident.
KATU News spoke with someone who works near the beach, who said the man was bitten in the leg, which Seaside officials later confirmed. The employee estimated that the wound was at least eight inches long.
Police say the surfer’s injuries are not life-threatening.
