OLYMPIA – Gov. Inslee said Thursday that Washington’s COVID-19 vaccine allocation is being cut by 40% next week.
Inslee said the state was alerted to the cuts by the Centers for Disease Control, adding that no explanation was given.
He said he’s committed to getting all of the doses our state was originally allocated and he will continue to push for answers.
The Washington State Department of Health was notified of the cuts by the CDC on Wednesday night.
The reduction will affect the shipment of the Pfizer vaccine scheduled to arrive Dec. 22.
Pfizer released a statement Thursday saying, “This week, we successfully shipped all 2.9 million doses that we were asked to ship by the U.S. Government to the locations specified by them. We have millions more doses sitting in our warehouse but, as of now, we have not received any shipment instructions for additional doses.”
The first doses of the new vaccine arrived in Washington state earlier this week.
