PORT ANGELES – Clallam County has added 36 new cases of Covid-19 to our total since Friday, up to 694 Tuesday, with 74 active infections at this point and zero hospitalized.
Health Officer Dr. Allison Berry Unthank told us Tuesday the spike in cases is due in part to a long term care facility outbreak of about 10 cases, including residents and staff.
We’re still posting high but improving numbers going into the long Christmas weekend with our cases per 100K at 133, down from 149 Friday. And our percentage of positivity in the last 2 weeks improved slightly to 4.3.
No word yet from school districts on when they’ll begin to bring students back to classrooms, but Dr. Unthank told us she does anticipate we’ll see some return to school in January.
