PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles School District announced Wednesday that in-person learning will resume on Monday, January 11, starting with Kindergarten, first, second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth graders on the A/B Hybrid Model.
Three days later, on the 14th, the Board of Directors will review and potentially approve their secondary plan to return 7-12th grade students to the classrooms.
A letter to families points out that a major difference with bringing back the older students is the fact that they change classes several times each day, which increases the potential exposure risk, so administators have developed a plan that reduces the number of classes each day but still allows for in-person learning.
The letter says that in the 2 months prior to the most recent closure, the District did not have a single Covid case among staff and students, which they believe shows that the current model is working.
