At-large escapees crawled through prison vent system

OKANOGAN, Wash.(KONP staff) – The Okanogan County Sheriff’s Office now says that two escaped inmates were able to break out of the county jail on Tuesday through the ventilation system.

28-year-old Kristofer Wittman and 53-year-old Christian White, were able to crawl through the ventilation ducting, which led them to the roof, according to an investigation. Then they were able to get down off the roof and were picked up and driven away by an unknown accomplice and are still at large.

Wittman, of Bellingham, was in custody for multiple charges including Possession of a Stolen Vehicle and Attempt to Elude.

White, of Rock Island, was in custody for multiple charges including Hit and Run and Assault.

The Okanogan Sheriff’s Office is coordinating with multiple agencies in their search.
