Sequim and Port Angeles have differing plans for next week’s 1B vaccinations

By Pepper Fisher

CLALLAM COUNTY – We now have more details from local health officials and the Jamestown Tribe on next week’s vaccination programs for people 70 and older.

The first round will begin in Sequim on Thursday, January 14 for folks who live in that area and will be a completely drive-through experience. The Port Angeles program will begin on January 16 at Port Angeles High School and will be a walk-through event.

In Sequim, you’ll be asked to pull into the parking lot at of Trinity United Methodist Church next to Carrie Blake Park and sign in. Bring your ID and please wear a short-sleeved shirt under you jacket.

From there you’ll drive into the park where tents will be set up near the band shell. After your vaccination you will be directed to a parking area to be monitored for 15 minutes before you leave. The vaccination is free and will given on a first-come, first served basis. Sequim dates are January 14,16, 19,21, and 23 from 9:00am-3:00pm.

Folks 70 and over living in the Port Angeles area and all points west will be asked to schedule a time to arrive at the high school in order to avoid large crowds standing around waiting. Health Officer Dr. Unthank says on Tuesday or Wednesday of next week the Clallam County website will have a page where you can schedule your appointment.

The vaccination dates in Port Angeles are the weekend of January 16 and 17, and the following weekend on the 23 and 24, from 9:00am-4:00pm. They expect to be able to vaccinate about 1000 people per weekend.

A month later people will be scheduled to get their second dose.
