Petition to retain Sequim City Manager gaining steam

By Pepper Fisher

SEQUIM – An organization calling itself the Sequim Good Governance League has posted a petition on the website Change.org asking the Sequim City Council to retain Charlie Bush as City Manager.

The Council voted 4-2 Monday night to ask Bush for his resignation. No reason has been given.

The petition, was started on Wednesday, reads in part:

“Charlie Bush has carried out his duties without fault…He returned to his job at the request of the City when COVID-19 hit and has done an outstanding job helping our community fight the pandemic…A sharply divided City Council has given us no justification for terminating Mr. Bush’s contract. We the undersigned citizens call on the City Council of Sequim to reverse its ill-advised, unjust, termination of Charlie Bush as City Manager of Sequim.”

The petition to retain Bush has set a goal of getting 500 signatures and was nearly there as of noon Friday.
