OMC adding COVID-19 vaccines, staff to bolster community immunization

PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Center is adding COVID-19 vaccine doses to the community clinics.

OMC plans to administer about 2,000 doses per weekend at the Port Angeles clinics over two weekends in February and two weekends in March.

OMC Human Resources Chief and General Counsel Jennifer Burkhardt says OMC can free up part of its allotment because they have already quickly vaccinated their workers.

“By early next week, we will have completed the vaccination series for approximately 1200 healthcare workers. So we’re moving from that effort in our employee vaccination clinic, which we operationalized rapidly and it ran very smoothly, now to moving into the clinic setting for the community. And we’re really looking forward to being able to join the efforts to go ahead and move into that starting, February 6th and 7th.”

Burkhardt says OMC will also add staff to support the Jamestown Family Health vaccination clinic in Sequim, beginning on February 2.  OMC will rotate with North Olympic Health Care Network in providing vaccines during alternating weekends at the Port Angeles clinics.  OMC is providing Pfizer vaccines and NOHN will administer Moderna. All the Port Angeles and Sequim clinics will use reservations through the Clallam County Health Department.
