SEQUIM – Nothing can stop the lavender in and around the Sequim area from blooming this summer, but the Sequim Lavender Festival Street Fair in Carrie Blake Park will not be happening this coming July.
The Sequim Lavender Growers Association made the announcement last week, citing the uncertainty around the status of large, outdoor events for the summer. However, The Lavender Growers Association Free Farms plan to be open to guests, with safety protocols in effect, much as they did last year.
A spokesperson for the festival recently posted on their Facebook page that they lost over $40,000 with the cancellation of last year’s event in Carrie Blake Park, money they had spent in advance on production, advertising and other costs.
The Sequim Lavender Growers Association will soon publish information about each farm on their website at lavenderfestival.com.
