SEQUIM – The Sequim City Council appointed Rachel Anderson to fill council seat #4 Tuesday night. 3 candidates, Anderson, Kathy Downer and David Rich, were nominated following the interviews and discussion in executive session, which led to a runoff vote with Anderson as the winner. She was sworn-in and appointed on the spot.
Councilor Anderson describes herself as parent and full-time college student. She is currently a Volunteer board member of the Sequim Education Foundation, a volunteer board member at OlyCap representing low-income families, as well as the Head Start Policy Council Chairperson at OlyCap. OlyCap is a non-profit agency originally established in 1966 in Clallam and Jefferson Counties to address poverty issues.
She has an associate degree in accounting from Purdue University and an associate degree in business administration from Peninsula College, where she was President of PC’s Business and Leadership Club in 2020.
Her position on the council will expire when the results of the November election are announced, where she has the option to run for election.
