Clallam COVID rates dip to “low” category

PORT ANGELES – For the first time since last fall, Clallam County has dipped into the “low” category for COVID-19.

Yesterday, the county reported its first positive virus test result since Friday. That continued a downward trend pushing Clallam County’s rate per 100-thousand people over the past two weeks to 24. That’s one below the threshold between low and moderate case rates.

Overall, Clallam County has reported 1,012 positive COVID cases in the past year of the pandemic. There are 14 active cases, and no one is in the hospital. There have been six deaths since tracking began last March.

Clallam County has now vaccinated just over 30 percent of the population with at least one of the two-dose shots. About 18 percent have gotten both shots and are considered fully vaccinated for COVID-19.
