SEQUIM – Two floundering kayakers were rescued by the Coast Guard Sunday afternoon near Sequim as they battled 48mph winds and 4-foot seas.
Coast Guard officials tweeted that the call for help came in from the kayakers as they struggled near Dungeness Spit.
A rescue boat was launched from Port Angeles and pulled the kayakers to safety. They were brought back to shore to waiting medics where they were listed with stable vital signs.
Coast Guard officials later tweeted, “Wear your life jackets!” and “Know the weather forecast!”
The forecast had warned of gale-force winds for the Strait of Juan de Fuca.
