PORT ANGELES – It’s time to sign up for this summer’s Dream Playground build, set to happen in the fourth week in June.
Volunteer shifts have been posted on the website in 4 hour shifts over a 6-day period. Sign up for as many as you like. As Director Steve Methner says, all levels of skills and expertise are welcome.
“It’s kind of like a big old Amish barn raising. It’ll be something that we build together as a community and it’s going to be awesome. So it doesn’t matter what your skill level is. We would love people to volunteer who have skills in construction, or if you don’t have skills and construction. There will be something for everyone to do.”
In addition to volunteering, Methner says there are also sponsorship opportunities still available for some of the components of the playground.
“So we still do have component sponsorships for businesses or for families who would like to help out with the effort, and it’s important that we sell a few more of those components sponsorships to get to our total budget amount so we can make sure we can get everything done that we have planned to get done. The service life is going to be probably 20 years and your business or your family will be recognized on that component for the whole time. And we really would love some more community partners to help sponsor some of those things, because it’s pretty neat.”
