PORT ANGELES — A well-known Jamestown S’Klallam tribal member and leader has died in a car crash.
57-year-old Kurt Grinnell was pronounced dead at the scene of a single-car crash east of Port Angeles Tuesday afternoon.
Just after four pm, Clallam County Sheriff’s deputies and firefighters from Clallam 2 Fire Rescue responded to the 1400 block of Mt. Pleasant Road.
Authorities say Grinnell was the only occupant of the vehicle. Investigators determined Grinnell’s black 2012 Toyota Camry was traveling southbound on a straight and level roadway when it left the road, traveled through a fence, and came to rest against a tree.
The accident remains under investigation by the Clallam County Sheriff’s Accident Investigation Unit.
Mr. Grinnell was a member of the Jamestown S’Klallam Tribe who served on the Tribal Council and held many other positions with the tribe throughout his lifetime.
