PORT ANGELES – Unemployment rates ticked down slightly last month in Clallam County.
According to state figures, the county’s rate was at 7.4%. That’s two tenths of a percent less than in March.
But it is 13% better than in April of last year. Due to massive layoffs from the pandemic, Clallam County had a 20% unemployment rate in April of 2020.
The county’s labor force increased by about 200 people between March and April of this year. About 100 additional people were employed locally at the same time and the number of unemployed decreased by about 40 people.
