PORT ANGELES – A Port Angeles City Councilmember’s house burned over the long holiday weekend.
Sunday evening firefighters were called to Charlie McCaughan’s house in south Port Angeles.
One side of his residence on East Hawthorne Place was on fire.
Flames were 20-feet high, and the attic space was also beginning to burn when firefighters arrived.
No one was home at the time of the fire. The family dogs were outside, and the cat was able to survive by huddling under a towel in a closet.
There’s no word on what caused the fire or a damage amount yet, but the McCaughan’s have been displaced by the fire.
