At last! We can fish for crab again (5 days a week)

PORT ANGELES – Dungeness crab season is back open in most marine areas as of July 1, including areas 5 and 6 along the Strait of Juan de Fuca, which is basically from Sekiu to Discovery Bay and Port Townsend.

The Department of Fish and Wildlife says crab numbers look good this summer for most areas except the southern end of Hood Canal and South Puget Sound, which will remain closed.

It’s going to be a limited fishing season, with crabbing allowed only Thursday through Monday each week. The season will end on September 6.
