Former guard in juvenile facility pleads guilty

Tacoma – A former guard at the Green Hill School, a juvenile rehabilitation facility in Chehalis, pleaded guilty today in U.S. District Court in Tacoma to extortion for taking bribes in exchange for delivering contraband into the secure facility.

40-year-old Julio Hayes was terminated as a staffer a year ago following an FBI operation that uncovered Hayes was accepting bribes and smuggling drugs and other contraband.

Court records show Hayes was smuggling marijuana, iPhones, vape pens, and chewing tobacco into the facility.  Hayes was paid in cash and accepted more than $11,000 before he was caught.
