PORT ANGELES – An 81-year-old Port Angeles man has been arrested in a child rape case.
William Lattin was arrested Tuesday. According to the Clallam County Sheriff’s office, earlier this month a seven-year-old relative of Lattin’s disclosed to other family members that they were sexually assaulted by Lattin.
The family members confronted Lattin about the assault. Lattin told the family members that he drank three bottles of wine and did not recall what happened with the victim.
The family members brought the victim to the Sheriff’s Office to report the incident. The victim was interviewed by a deputy who is trained in child forensic interviewing. During the interview, the victim disclosed further details of the sexual assault.
Then this week, Clallam County Detectives received information that Lattin was planning on leaving the state. Deputies contacted Lattin, arrested and booked him into the Clallam County Jail. A hearing is set for tomorrow in Clallam County Superior Court.
