PORT ANGELES – Voters have winnowed down candidates for local office in an unusually full, off-year primary election ballot.  The top two vote getters will move onto the November races.

In returns from Clallam County released last night, Heather Jeffers and Karen Rogers will advance in the at-large race for Olympic Medical Center Commissioner. Jeffers received 57 percent of the vote to Rogers’ 31 percent.

Incumbent Port Angeles City Councilmember LaTrisha Suggs will face Adam Garcia in the general election. Suggs got 46 percent of the vote to Garcia’s 42 percent.

PA city councilmember Mike French easily cruised to victory in his primary. Getting 57 percent of the vote. He’ll face John Madden in November. Madden received 35 percent.

Incumbent PA Councilmember Kate Dexter and John Procter will advance. Dexter received 54 percent of the vote and Procter got 41 percent.

It appears Jena Stamper will face incumbent Lindsey Schromen-Wawrin for PA City Council. Schromen-Wawrin received 41 percent of the vote while Stamper got 35 percent.

Mary Hebert and Gabi Johnson look to be headed to the general election for a spot on the Port Angeles School Board. Hebert got 36 percent and Johnson 32 percent last night in a four-candidate race.

The closest race is for a spot on the Sequim School Board. There, Kristi Schmeck leads with 29 percent of the vote.  Virginia Sheppard trails with 28 percent, and Rachel Tax has 26 percent

Jeff Nicholas and Duane Chamlee will advance in a race for Fire District Three Commissioner.

Voter turnout was reported at just under 30 percent for Clallam County.
