Meet the finalists for Sequim City Manager

SEQUIM — The Sequim City Council settled on 5 candidates for the City Manager job Thursday night. Their names and bios were released Friday afternoon and interim City Manager Charisse Deschenes’ name is among them.

The other 4 are men from various parts of the country.

Deschenes has been with Sequim since 2014, her prior roles having been as a Senior Planner and Assistant to the City Manager under Charlie Bush.

She has a bachelor’s degree in park and resource management, an executive MBA, and is working toward a master’s degree in urban and regional planning.

Patrick Comiskey has been the City Manager for Cambridge, Maryland since 2018. Before that he was the City Manager for Thomaston, Georgia and the City Manager in Wellsburg, West Virginia.

He has a bachelor’s degree in sociology, another in business administration, and a master’s degree in public administration.

Jeff Durbin is currently the Interim Town Manager for Frisco, Colorado. Previously, he was Town Manager in Fraser, Colorado and Community Development Director in Plainfield, Illinois.

Durbin has a bachelor’s degree in environmental design and a master’s degree in urban and regional planning.

Matt Huish has been the Chief Administrative Officer for Sandy, Utah since 2018. Previously, he was the Administrative Director for the University of Utah.

Mr. Huish has a bachelor’s degree in physical therapy from the University of Puget Sound, a master’s degree in business administration from the University of Utah, and has completed some coursework towards a master’s degree in healthcare administration.

Joe Lessard is currently self-employed. Previously he was the Senior Planning Director for Knudson (no state given), and Assistant City Manager in Austin, Texas. He also worked for the City of Dallas as the Assistant to the City Manager.

Lessard has a master’s degree in public affairs and bachelor’s degrees in political science and business administration from Washington State University.

Candidate interviews will take place on Thursday, September 9 and Friday, September 10.  The schedule is still being finalized.
