PORT ANGELES – Port Angeles School District officials are warning students’ families there could be some delays in bussing.
In a letter to families this week, the district updated how the local labor shortage is affecting hiring school bus drivers.
They say they now have “just enough” bus drivers to cover the routes. The Director of Transportation, dispatcher, and mechanics are filling in to keep routes running.
But, without any substitute drivers, they are warning of possible two-hour delays in picking up or dropping off students. If a route is delayed due to the staffing shortage the district plans to send a text message and email in the morning notifying families.
They are also asking for more people to apply for substitute driving jobs. You can do that through the district’s website at portangelesschools.org.
