PORT ANGELES – Two brothers accused of beating an elderly man on a Clallam Transit bus have been arrested after being on the lam most of the weekend.
Thirty-six-year-old Channing Warren Davis turned himself in yesterday at the Clallam County Courthouse. 39-year-old Steven Rene Davis was located in between the 8th Street bridges and arrested at 9:46 am Sunday. Both arrests occurred without incident. Both Davis brothers were booked into the Clallam County Jail for Robbery in the First Degree and Assault in the Second Degree.
Friday evening at around 5:30 Clallam County Sheriff’s Deputies and Rangers from the Olympic National Park were dispatched to an assault in progress on the Clallam Transit #14 bus headed to Forks.
Witnesses say two males in the back of the bus were causing a disturbance. As the bus approached the East Beach/Highway 101 bus stop, a 68-year-old male resident of Neah Bay told the men to “Hold the noise down.” That’s when video shows Channing Davis moving toward the man and berating him while Steven Rene Davis approached the driver.
Surveillance video shows Channing Davis punching the victim in the head 7 more times, while Steven Davis hits him 16 times in the head and torso. Steven grabbed the victim around the neck and threw him to the ground. Channing and Steven Davis are then seen kicking the victim.
Steven and Channing Davis then left the bus with the victim’s backpack.
