PORT ANGELES – Residents in Clallam Fire District Two may get some relief on their fire insurance premiums.
The Washington Survey and Rating Bureau (WSRB) has improved Clallam 2 Fire Rescue’s protection class. That could help property owners with their insurance premiums. WSRB is an independent, non-profit service organization that has been serving Washington State since 1911. They produce data that helps insurance companies accurately evaluate risk and provide objective information which may be used to set fire insurance premiums.
Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue now has a protection class of 6. That’s up from a rating of 7 made five years ago.
In May, Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue was visited by representatives from WSRB to evaluate the operations within the Fire District. They also reviewed local water systems, the 911 dispatch center, and the Clallam County Fire Marshal’s office which oversees fire code enforcement in the Fire District.
Fire chief Jake Patterson is encouraging property owners to contact their insurance providers to see if they use the WSRB Protection Class rating in their premium calculations, as it could result in a cost reduction.
