Fired WSU coach files wrongful termination suit

PULLMAN, Wash. — Former WSU head football coach Nick Rolovich is taking legal action against the university after he was fired for not receiving the vaccine by the state’s Oct. 18 deadline.

Rolovich’s attorney confirmed in a statement released today the former coach had filed a religious exemption based on his Catholic faith, but it was denied by the university.

The statement adds that WSU Athletic Director Pat Chun directed campus police to escort Rolovich to his car after he was fired and did not allow him into his office or to speak to his players.

It is widely believed the university will not have to pay Rolovich any money from his buy-out because his firing is believed to be with cause.

Rolovich’s contract paid him over $3-million last year.
