PORT ANGELES – An effort to revitalize downtown Port Angeles is reaching a new step.

Elevate PA has released a draft strategic plan that would guide changes to the downtown over the next five years.

The plan is organized under four main pillars with targeted actions under the categories of promotion, design, economic, and sustainability. Each goal has four strategies, and each strategy has four actions with metrics for determining success.

Elevate PA sprang from an effort through the Port Angeles Chamber of Commerce to leverage an unprecedented number of investments through large projects now taking place or are planned downtown. Earlier this year, workshops were held to build a downtown visions and framework for the strategic plan.

Executive Director Marc Abshire says now they want the public’s opinion on the plan:

“We’ve been working on this for quite a few monthsin different phases. And a lot of people got involved. We’ve had workshops at Vern Burton this past summer. We’ve had a lot of online meetings and a lot of input. We have something like 800 inputs already. So, we’ve been vetting this plan and and it’s been evolving. And we’re now at the point where we really want to present it to the larger community. We want thoughts ideas. questions and all that from the community.”

The chamber is hosting a virtual event Saturday 4:00pm – 6:30pm. The zoom meeting links, and a copy of the strategic plan are available at the chamber’s website, portangeles.org.
