PORT ANGELES – With less than a week to go before election day, just under 20 percent of the ballots in Clallam County have been returned for processing.
Through yesterday, elections officials say about eleven thousands of the more than fifty-seven thousand ballots sent out had been returned. About ninety-seven hundred of those have been accepted and readied for tally. There have been 116 challenged ballots so far.
Voters have until this Tuesday to get ballots in an official drop box or postmarked to be valid.
Locally voters are weighing in on hotly contested races for city council in Port Angeles and Sequim, and two highly contested spots on the Olympic Medical Center Board. There are also spots up for spots on the Port Angeles and Sequim School Boards.
