CLALLAM BAY – On Monday PUD crews completed the task of pulling a bypass water pipe across the massive landslide between Clallam Bay and Sekiu to get water restored to Clallam Bay. They expected completion of welding Monday as well. Tuesday they anticipate the completion of bolting and then will flush, disinfect, and submit water samples for lab testing. After that, they’ll start filling the reservoir and Clallam Bay can be put back into service with a boil water order.
Once further lab testing is approved, the boil water notice will be lifted.
There is slack in the bypass pipe to account for slide movement. Sections of the pipe are able to be removed to allow WSDOT to conduct clearing without residents losing service as long as the reservoir is kept full.
