Chances increasing for a north Peninsula White Christmas

PORT ANGELES – Could we see a white Christmas?

The National Weather Service says there’s a good chance of a least a dusting of snow. There’s an 80 percent chance of at least an inch of snow. There’s a 20 percent chance of six or more inches of snow falling Christmas into Monday next week.

There’s plenty of chilly air moving into the area, and there will also be moisture coming. The tricky part, forecasters say, is the timing. That’s why they’re still unsure just how much might fall, but they say any precipitation falling this weekend especially will fall as snow down to sea level.

Areas in Whatcom County are also expected to get very windy and frigid conditions as part of the weather pattern.

Before the snow, forecasters say to expect an increase in rain, with a chance of some flooding in western Washington rivers.
