The Sequim Wolves boys basketball team got a feel-good win Monday afternoon over the Olympic Trojans 57 – 41. The Wolves jumped out to a quick 19 – 4 lead. The Trojans pulled to within 6 points with 6:10 left in the game when a Trojan player took a punch and went after a Sequim player. The Trojan player received 2 technical fouls and a game ejection. The Wolves hit several free throws and ended up blowing out the Trojans 57 – 41. The Wolves were led by Jr. Guard Isaiah Moore with 21 points and Soph Keenan Green with 10 points. The Wolf JVs knocked off Olympic 47 – 41 Fr. Charlie Grider lead the Wolves with 12 points. The Wolf JVs are 5-4 on the season. The Wolf C Squad team fell to Olympic 61 – 43 however Wolves Fr. Guard Andrew Brown hit for 24 points. The Wolves will host North Kitsap Thursday night.
Rob Gales’ Port Angeles wrestlers invaded Bainbridge Island Saturday and they brought back lots of loot in the form of medals in a 5-school tournament. Coming away with 1st place medals for the girls were Faye Dachs and Kennedy Bruch. Baily Anderson and Willow Harvey came away with 3rd place medals. For the boys bringing back 2nd place medals were Phoenix Flores, Ethan Abrams and Jack Harrelson. 3rd place medals went to Zach Gavin and Tom Arand. The Roughriders will travel to Olympia on Wednesday and to Lakes H.S. on Saturday
This week’s basketball schedule is a busy one. In NWAC action, the Peninsula Pirates women and men head to Mount Vernon Wednesday to take on Skagit Valley. In high school action, the Sequim Wolves girls, who are having a fantastic season, will travel to North Kitsap. The Sequim boys also on Thursday night will host North Kitsap. The Port Angeles Lady Roughriders on Thursday night will travel to Silverdale to take on the Olympic Trojans. Mike Poindexter’s crew having another good season with a 5-1 Olympic League record. Also Thursday night, Kasey Ulin’s Roughrider Boys will host a Olympic Trojan team that they blew out last Saturday 70 – 27. The Roughriders are 5-0 in Olympic League play and 6 -3 overall.
