Wednesday Local Sports Roundup

The Port Angeles Lady Roughriders had no problem with the Bainbridge Spartans last night, blowing out the Spartans 60-23. The Roughriders used everyone on the roster to create miss matches and the green jerseys did not disappoint. Roughrider Sr. Guard Bailee Larson had a career high of eighteen points with four, three pointers. Larson is headed to Lower Columbia College in Longview to play soccer and basketball as well. Seniors Jenna McGoff and Eve Burke each hit for nine points, Piper Williams and Lexie Smith hit for seven points each. The Roughriders are now 8-6 overall and 7-1 in league play. Port Angeles will host North Kitsap Thursday night.

The Sequim Wolves blew out the North Mason Bulldogs 67-20. How about the Stat line for 5’3″ Junior Point guard Hannah Bates scored seventeen points to go with 5 rebounds and four steels. Junior center Jelissa Julmist hit for thirteen points and Soph Forward Jolene Vaara pitched in eleven points. The Wolves are 13-2 overall and 10-0 in league play.

In boys’ action, eighth ranked Port Angeles destroyed Bainbridge 62-31. Senior Wyatt Dunning lead the Roughriders with eighteen points. Senior point guard Xander Maestas hit for fifteen points and Senior John Vaara finished with fourteen. The Roughriders now 8-3 overall and 6-0 in league play will take to the road Thursday night to take on the #1 ranked North Kitsap Vikings.

A big doubleheader tonight at Peninsula College as the Pirate Women will battle the Whatcom Orcas for a first-place spot on top of the Northern Division. The Pirates ranked #5 in the NWAC have won six games in a row for a 11-2overall record and a 2-0 Division record. The sixth ranked Orcas have won 7 games in a row are 9-1overall and 2-0 in league play. Tipoff is at 5 pm, all fans are welcome to attend the game. Masks are required to be worn. The Pirate men 1-1 in Division play and 9-5 overall look to get back on track after a tough 4 Point loss at Olympic. The Orcas are 0-2 in league play and 8-8 overall.
