The Sequim Wolves boys basketball team had minutes of game-winning basketball last night in Kingston, but the Wolves also had long droughts of little offense as they lost at Kingston 50-41. Kingston ran out to an 8-0 lead and the Wolves did not score a field goal until there was just 1:30 seconds left in the first quarter. Luckily for the Wolves, in came 6’5″ Jr Cole Smithson who sparked the Wolves offense. Smithson scored six of the next eight points and the Wolves trailed just 8-7 after 1 quarter. 6’4″Jr. Isaiah Moore hit 2 quick buckets including a 3 ball and 6’2″ Sophomore Keenan Green hit a three from the top of the key and the Wolves lead 19-16 at the break. The game was tied 27-27 after 3 quarters. Kingston opened the final quarter by outscoring the Wolves 9-2 in the first 4 minutes and the party was over for the Wolves. Cole Smithson and Isaiah Moore lead the way with ten points and Keenan Green added nine. The Wolves are now 3-7 in league play and 4-10 overall.

In high school action tonight, the eighth-ranked Port Angeles boys will host Kingston at 7 pm. The Roughriders are 8-1 in league play and 10-4 overall.
In girls action, the Sequim Wolves will host Olympic at 7 pm. The Wolves lead the Olympic league with a 11-0 record and a 15-2 overall record. The Port Angeles Roughriders will travel to Kingston they will tip off at 7 pm. The Roughriders are 8-1 in league play and 10-6 overall.

In the NWAC the Peninsula Pirates women’s team moved up one spot in the rankings to fourth. Peninsulas women’s and men’s teams travel to Edmonds’s tomorrow night. The women tip off at 5 pm.
