Missing man found alive near home

PORT ANGELES — A missing Port Angeles man has been found alive.

Just before three Saturday afternoon members of the Mason County Search and Rescue Team found 73-year-old Isaac Rivas about 500 meters north of his residence in 3 foot tall grass.

Clallam County Sheriff’s Office Sgt John Keegan says Rivas’ location was discovered when a search K-9 alerted his handler and team members to the location. Rivas was alert and conscious but was hypothermic.  Rescuers began warming Isaac with dry clothes, heat packs and emergency blankets.

Rivas told rescuers that he had left his residence off Dan Kelly Road the evening of the 9th for a walk. He was following a fence line when he stumbled and fell. Rivas attempted to crawl to a nearby residence.

Rivas was transported to Olympic Medical Center for treatment.

This was the 4th day of the search for him, which included 40 volunteers from several search and rescue teams to include Kitsap, Mason, Pierce, Jefferson and Clallam counties.
