CLALLAM COUNTY – The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office issued an update Friday on the investigation into the discovery of the bodies of a man and a woman on Wild Currant Way east of Port Angeles Thursday afternoon.
The Clallam County Sheriff’s Office and Clallam County Coroner’s Office have identified the decedents as 60 year old Port Angeles resident Clay Lee Haltom and 43 year old Port Angeles resident Bryana Emilia Presler. Both resided on Wild Currant Way.
Investigators believe both died as a result of gunshot wounds to the back of the heads.
Autopsies are scheduled for the middle of next week.
On Thursday at about 3:45pm, Deputies were dispatched to the 10 block of Wild Currant Way on a report of a single vehicle collision. The initial reporting party believed the driver of the vehicle was deceased.
The first responding deputies to the scene quickly realized the injuries sustained by the decedents were not consistent with a low-speed collision.
About 2 hours later, just before 5:30pm, a family member of one of the victims was arrested by Deputies on an unrelated, out of county misdemeanor warrant for theft, a short distance from the scene.
Detectives plan on finishing the processing of the crime scene this evening and it is anticipated Wild Currant Way will soon be open to vehicular traffic. The investigation remains ongoing.
