SEQUIM – After nearly two years, the Sequim School District has hired a new permanent superintendent.
The school board announced last night it hired Regan Nickels to take over. The school board vote was unanimous.
Nickels is currently the superintendent of Regional School Unit 22 in Hapden, Maine. However, she has connections with Washington. She earned a master’s degree at Bellevue’s City University and other certifications through Western Washington University in Bellingham.
Sequim Schools will pay her $230-thousand dollars a year with a three-year contract. She will start in mid-July.
It’ll mark the first time the district has had a permanent superintendent in the office since fall of 2020. That’s when Robert Clark was placed on administrative leave and later resigned. The district then operated under interim superintendent Jayne Pryne for about a year, until she resigned last year.
