PORT ANGELES – Clallam County’s Health Department has launched a new COVID tracking tool.
Health officials want people who test positive using an at-home test to notify them through a new website reporting portal.
The website went live yesterday at: https://app.smartsheet.com/b/form/5b381c224d8d45459c67c39ffa305f8f
Officials say they think the number of COVID-19 cases are vastly under reported now in Clallam County due to most people using at-home test. Those results aren’t routinely reported to the state’s database, and subsequently the county isn’t informed.
County Health Officer Dr. Allison Berry says she thinks the county’s rate per 100-thousnd population over the past two weeks is over 200 if home test results were included. But as of yesterday, the county was at 117.
Other numbers are improving locally. The number of people hospitalized with COVID has dropped to two, and the county hasn’t reported a Covid-related death in at least two weeks.
