LOCAL SPORTS — High School Sports Roundup

SEQUIM — After 4 full innings the 16th-ranked Sequim Wolves fast pitch team lead the 3rd-ranked Port Angeles Roughriders 7-2. Then, the flood gates opened for the green machine as the Roughriders scored 12 runs on 9 hits to take a 14-7 lead that would also be the final score.

The Roughriders spread the wealth offensively with Peyton Rudd leading the way going 2 for 4 and scoring 2 runs. Zoe Smithson had 2 hits and scored 2 runs. Left Fielder Heidi Leitz had 2 hits scored a run and has been outstanding defensively. Cheyenne Zimmer got on base twice and scored 2 runs. Short stop Natalie Robinson hit a 5th inning home run over the center field fence. Roughrider pitcher Teagan Clark had a solid game with 12 strike outs.

The Wolves were led by Addie Smith who got on base twice and scored 2 runs. Christy Grubb got on base twice and scored 2 runs. Mia Pozernick hit a 3rd inning home run over the center field fence. The Roughriders are 11-1 overall and 6-1 in league play. The Wolves are 7-5-1 overall and 3-4 in league play.

The Port Angeles Roughrider soccer team scored 4 2nd half goals to shut out Olympic 4-0. The Roughriders got 2 goals from Dayton Williams and goals from Kaleb Gagnon and Xander Maestas. The Roughriders are still in the hunt for a playoff spot with a 4-6 league record and a 5-6 overall record.

Yesterday the Port Angeles Roughrider golf teams split in Kingston. The Roughrider Boys lost to Kingston by 8 strokes 181- 173. The Roughriders were led by Edun Bailey shooting a 42. Austin Worthington shot a 43. Phoenix Flores shot a 46. Nate Anderson shot a 50. Reid Schmidt shot a 53 and Isaac Shamp shot a 54.

The Roughrider girls outscored Kingston 224-268. Sophomore Lauryn Chapman lead the way with a 50. Piper Williams shot a shot a 56. Mia Neff shot a 58. Sydney Fryer shot a 64 and Makena Marquez shot a 64.

In a baseball score Bremerton beat Sequim 11-4.
