PORT ANGELES –State Representative Mike Chapman has tested positive for Covid-19.
In a news release Wednesday, Chapman said, “I am quarantined in my home, and unfortunately have had to cancel legislative meetings, and I am cancelling all legislative-related in person meetings for at least the next two weeks. However, as I improve, I plan to attend remote legislative meetings and take phone calls and reply to constituents as best as I can. I have no idea when or where I was exposed. Thank goodness I am fully vaccinated and boosted, or I might be in real trouble. I have notified those who might have been exposed and I have reported my positive test to the Washington Department of Health.”
He continued, “I urge all Washingtonians to continue following public health guidelines, including full vaccination; masking up with a high quality N95, KN95, or KF94 mask; and frequent handwashing. Life is finally returning to normal, but the virus is not gone. We must continue working together to defeat it.”
Chapman, who represents the Olympic Peninsula’s 24th Legislative District, was first elected to the House of Representatives in 2016.
