PORT ANGELES – Tracy Bloom of Tracy’s Insulation adopted the winning rubber duck in yesterday’s 33rd annual Great Olympic Peninsula Duck Derby. That’s good for a new Toyota car from Wilder Toyota. Thirty-two other prizes of different goods and services and cash were also awarded to other duck adopters.
The race was held yesterday afternoon at Pebble Beach Park in Port Angeles. It is an annual fundraiser for the Olympic Medical Center Foundation. Foundation Executive Director Bruce Skinner says the race made the most money ever, with $124,000 after expenses. 25,000 ducks were sold this year.
The top selling individual duck salesperson was Esther Littlejohn of Sequim for the second straight year. She sold 2100 ducks. Also, a top seller again this year was Gail Ralston, who now has sold more than 33-thousand ducks in her tenure as a volunteer with the foundation.
