PORT ANGELES – After a months-long shut down, it looks like a popular solid waste transfer station will finally reopen.
The city of Port Angeles says it will restart the shuttered Blue Mountain Transfer Station July 5th.
It has been shut down since the city took over the contract to operate the transfer stations as well curbside recycling from Waste Management.
City officials said they faced big delays in getting replacement equipment to re-open the transfer and recycling center that many residents living in the eastern part of the county had relied on.
According to a press release from the city, software upgrades, communication upgrades, general facilities clean-up and repairs, and security improvements are complete and will allow for the reopening after the Independence Day holiday.
