PORT ANGELES – A section of the Olympic Discovery Trail is back open today after heavy rains caused a mudslide to cover a section in front of the 9/11 Memorial Waterfront Park in downtown Port Angeles.
The slide, located in between the Francis Street stairs and the Red Lion Hotel, happened Thursday and temporarily blocked the trail. Bri Howell from the Parks and Recreation Department told us the stairs for the Francis Street access will be closed indefinitely for safety reasons. They ask that you use the road on the east side to access Francis Street in its place.
