PORT ANGELES – Clallam County Fire Marshal George Bailey announced Tuesday he is extending the County burn ban until further notice due to the continued warm weather and the reduced availability of fire-fighting resources.

Typically, the burn ban would end on October 1. Bailey says there are projections for our traditional autumn rainfall to start toward the end of next week, but until we experience a period of heavy, soaking rainfall, the ban will remain in place.

As soon as it is safe to burn outdoors, he’ll announce it by press release.

The current burn ban prohibits all outdoor burning, including campfires, briquette BBQ’s, residential yard debris clean-up, trash disposal, and agricultural burning activity. Propane/gas appliances are permitted provided the use is over a non-flammable surface and at least 5 feet from flammable vegetation.
