PORT ANGELES — There is another Port Angeles Roughrider Olympic 2A league champion, and it is the Roughrider swim team after the Roughriders sunk the North Kitsap Vikings 118-67.
The Roughriders also qualified their 200 Medley Relay Team of Harper McGuire, Yau Fu, Rachel Cooper and Mackenzie DuBois to the state tournament. Also finishing with first place wins were Mackenzie DuBois with 4, Yau Fu with 3, Izzy Shaw, Danika Asgeirsson and Harper McGuire with 2. Lynzee Reid, Rachel Cooper, Sara Wilson and Brooke St Luise with one. The Roughriders will participate in the league’s “last-chance” meet tomorrow at Olympic high school at 3:30 pm.

In high school football action Friday night, as expected 6th-ranked North Kitsap had no problem with Sequim beating the Wolves 54-6. Sequim will end their season at home Friday night against Bremerton kick off at 7 pm.
The Port Angeles Roughriders celebrated senior night with an impressive 28-7 win over Kingston. Roughrider Junior Wing back- Linebacker Jason Hawes dominated Civic Field and for the 2nd time this season was named the Firehouse Grill Player of the Game. Hawes had a game changing 70-yard punt return for a touchdown at the end of the first half. The Roughriders will end the season this Friday night at North Mason with the kickoff at 7 pm. In NWAC soccer action, the #1 ranked Peninsula Pirate women beat Shoreline 7-0. Former Roughrider Millie Long had the hat trick with 3 goals. Former Sequim Wolf Hannah Wagner had her 2nd goal of the season. Briana Jean Tanaka, Kellie Silva and Alexis Harris each had a goal. The Pirates are 10-0-1 on the season. The 2nd ranked Pirate men beat Edmonds 3-0. Finlay Mouture, Dylan Pauw and Pau Vivas Ayala each had a goal. The Pirates 15-2-2 moved back into 1st place in the Northern Division with the 1-1 tie between Whatcom and Everett.
