LOCAL SPORTS: PA loses, Sequim wins in district soccer

PORT ANGELES — In district soccer action last night, the Roughriders lost a 1-0 heart breaker to #4 seed White River. Roughrider head coach Daniel Horton was still proud of how hard his team played.  “We played great D. It was amazing, Sayla Commerton was in full MVP mode, but they finally squeezed one in at the 77th minute mark,” said Horton.

The Roughriders will host Bremerton tonight at 7 pm.

Sequim knocked off Clover Park 2-0. Alexandra Salas scored at the 59th minute mark and Taryn Johnson with an assist from Jenny Gomez scored at the 77th minute. Tonight, Sequim will travel to Renton to take on #8 seed Lindberg at 6 pm.

If both Sequim and Port Angeles win, that would set a Wolves – Roughriders match up Friday night. That game is scheduled at North Mason, however if both teams agree that game could be played at Peninsula College.

In volleyball action last night, Port Angeles swept Olympic 25-14 25-20 25-17. Port Angeles will travel to Sequim tomorrow night with the first serve at 6:15.

In the Peninsula Soccer League, Forks FC beat Pura Vida 2-0. Straight Slice beat High Energy Metal 2-1. Bandidos FC beat Pantry & Latch 4-1. Salazar painting beat Los Primos 2-0.

In the Peninsula Basketball League, 7 Ceders Casino beat up Adam’s Tree Service 89-36. Tyler Hunter had 38 points.
