OLYMPIA – The razor clam season on coastal beaches in Washington has been postponed effective immediately until further notice, and includes digs that would have started this Sunday through Sunday, Nov. 13.
Test results on razor clams are showing domoic acid levels are trending upward or, on most beaches, have exceeded the guidelines for safe consumption set by Health officials.
F&W officials are blaming recent storms for the rapid increase in razor clam toxin levels. They say they’ll continue to monitor the situation and reopen the harvest as soon as clams are safe to eat.
The last week in November and most of the month of December are tentatively scheduled for digs.
