PORT ANGELES – The Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue Board of Fire Commissioners has a new member, and it’s a familiar name to many.

The Board met at a special public meeting on Monday to review applicants for the position left vacant when Commissioner Thomas Martin announced his retirement in October. At that meeting, Dan Huff was selected to serve the final 14 months remaining on Martin’s term.

Dan Huff is no stranger to the Fire District, having served as a volunteer for the past 45 years. He started at the Gales Addition Fire Station in 1977 and has progressed through all the ranks from firefighter, lieutenant, station captain and is currently the volunteer assistant fire chief for Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue.

Earlier this year, Assistant Chief Huff announced that he would be retiring as a volunteer effective December 31, 2022. He will now transition to the role of commissioner effective January 1.
