OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK – Hurricane Ridge is expected to be open Friday and through the weekend. And the Hurricane Ridge Winter Sports Club is planning to be open as well. The calendar on their website says they plan to be open every weekend this month and for the entire week after Christmas day.
Park officials told KONP that they are using a backup snowplow after one of their plows caught on fire on December 2 while it was stored in one of the Park’s maintenance buildings. We’ve learned that the fire was caused by an electrical issue associated with the plow’s battery switch.
Access to Hurricane Ridge Road is always weather-dependent, so it’s a good idea to check the road’s status before you go on the Park’s recorded line at (360)565-3131.
