OLYMPIC NATIONAL PARK – Olympic National Park officials are reserving campsites at select campgrounds for this coming season in a whole new way.
Reservations for certain sites at Kalaloch, Mora, Hoh Rainforest, and Fairholme campgrounds can be reserved 6 months in advance, others 2 weeks in advance, and some are only 4 days in advance.
Recreation.gov, the website for exploring recreational opportunities on federal land, has recently added the option for national parks to have multiple reservation windows. The theory is that it allows parks to accommodate multiple trip planning strategies for campers. It’s no fun to visit a place you’ve always wanted to see only to find out that every camp site was booked up months before you got there. This should help relieve that scenario for thousands of visitors nationwide.
